Before the reshaping of Norrath, there was a mighty and wealthy people. They lived in Great pyramids made of lead and stone, keeping them and their riches safe. They had survived many great wars inside the safety of the pyramids, and the pyramids were still as strong as ever.

They served The One God , or Ra, the God of the sun and giver of all life and light. As time passed more Gods emerged and they and their followers fought over earth and the very air, and Ra's children started to feel threatened ...even in their Pyramid's safe haven. This upset Ra as he heard their many prayers to him. The bickering and fighting continued and the gods realized that they had ruined Norrath in their jealous power struggles.            

Ra, used his holy sunlight to  blind all creation during the reshaping, and even the other gods knew nothing of the secret compassionate deed of Ra. 

Ra had thus saved his faithful followers from a doom that they had no part in creating. Happy with his work he swirled his Holy lava into a Large oval pool, which was the center piece for the underground haven he had carved out for them. The reddish yellow pool remained placid, and only rippled when Ra himself was angry. This pool of holy liquid sun that Ra used to protect and watch over his followers became known to all as ........ The..

Many ages later, the people of the Eye have evolved into Crusaders and others called Immortals, indeed people of many diverse cultural heritages. The Torch was passed a few times thru the ages, and in it's own way; it saddened many of the People of the Sungod. Some would talk about it in groups while others would drown the sorrow with drunken  babble at a pub or tavern. And so it was that word of Ra's love for his followers got out and new cultural races began seeking to serve the Sungod, this, Ra.

And suddenly, as if Ra himself spoke to all of his followers at once, it occurred to them.

It matters not of where the Torch may turn,.....

As long as the Torch doeth always burn.
